چکیده
Purpose Sarcoidosis is a rare multi-system inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, the pathology of which is characterized by the presence of non-caseating granulomas. Neurosarcoidosis can affect any part of the peripheral or central nervous system and occurs in approximately 5-15% of all sarcoidosis patients. In this report, we present a case of isolated neurosarcoidosis in a child manifested as recurrent meningoencephalitis and hyponatremia.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease with unknown cause characterized by non-caseating granuloma formations. It may present with bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, skin lesions, eye and musculoskeletal system involvement. Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria are important electrolyte imbalances resulting from sarcoidosis and sometimes they may cause nephrolitiasis and kidney failure. Hyponatremia, ...

Acute hyponatraemia is a common finding in patients with intracranial pathology. The diagnosis of the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) is often made, but it is important to distinguish this from cerebral salt wasting syndrome, which responds to very different management. Cerebral salt wasting is well documented in neurosurgical patients and in patients with space occupying...
متن کاملSerial Magnetic Resonance Imagings of Multiple Brain Abscesses in a Patient with Pneumococcal Meningoencephalitis
We report a 43-yr-old man manifesting bacterial meningoencephalitis and multiple abscesses by Streptococcus pneumoniae. Serial magnetic resonance (MR) imagings and MR spectroscopy showed the evolution of multiple brain abscesses over 4 weeks: the enhanced rings became thicker and the dimension of whole lesions larger despite shrinkage of the ring-enhanced regions. These findings may be evidence...
